Not The Twelve Bell Live was hosted by Matthew Tosh and featured lots of familiar voices and faces from previous years of the contest, including a delve into its history and how it started. The show was live with interviews, bells, stories, ringing hints and tips, demonstrations and, of course, your ringing contest stories and messages.
All you need to do is furnish yourself with a DIY ringers’ tea or supply of beer, and then head here, or to our YouTube channel, at 1pm (UK time) on Saturday 20th June 2020.
The National 12 Bell Striking Contest has been cancelled for 2020 because of the coronavirus outbreak.
With the rapidly evolving national situation, the distances to be travelled to the eliminators and final, and the many members of the wider ringing community who fall into the “at risk” category, cancellation was the sensible conclusion.
This was not an easy decision to make, and it was taken after consulting the contest committee, hosts for the eliminators and final, judges and technicians, and team captains.
Many people have already put significant time and effort into preparing for the contest, and we are grateful for their efforts, and to the whole ringing community for their understanding. We look forward to the 12 Bell contest resuming in 2021.
